Chequers Inn

We all met up in the car park where Paul was waiting to do his first investigation as a full time member of the V.I.P team. Alison gave Paul his t-shirt and jacket and Paul changed straight into them in the cold car park so all the lady team members had a giggle at him. It was a cold night with a slight wind, and it was raining on and off. The team was shown upstairs where we were then left to start our investigations into the Chequers Inn. As the place was very small we decided to just split into groups and go into the separate rooms.Alison took her first reading of the night, which was in the hallway of the flat. Hum 82% Temp 12.3c Alison and Kelly stayed in the hallway while Chris and Paul decided that they would brave the attic, which left Jules, Mandy, Linda and Hettie in the large room which I guess would have been the landlords lounge. Even though we were all in different parts of the flat we could hear that Hettie was calling out, so we just sat very quite to see if the spirits of the location would come forward. Kelly and Alison heard some knocking but we think that they were pipes from the nearby radiator. Moments later Jules asked Alison if she had just moved about in the hallway, I can not lie I had moved to the other step which is half way down.Alison asked Jules what she heard she replied that she had heard someone shuffling there feet in the hallway. Alison the ventured towards the men in the attic due to hearing a sound like rustling, whilst there she took a temp reading and noticed a temperature drop on the meter: 18.5c. We gave the calling out another 15 minutes or so and then it was time for a cuppa, while the team gathered back together and chatted. Mandy said while she was in the lounge room sitting on a chair that she a had a feeling that some one had sat on her lap. Hettie was seeing an old lady with the name Barbara, also that the place could have been a coaching inn at one point in time. Tim then came up just to say that we could start our investigation downstairs in the main bar area. The team made there way downstairs too start in the newer part of the building. Hum 48% Temp 22c We all started to sort out the equipment again and we took loads of photos, Kelly (our brave and fearless leader J ) has taken some great photos at this location so please have a look at the photos and tell us what you think they could be. While Mandy was walking around she said that she felt a pressure around her neck and after that had happened she had the feeling that she was being followed. Linda was sitting in the corner very quiet like she does quite often on our investigations. She was getting an old boy with a beard coming through, and his name was Dave, We decided that we would see if this Dave would come through on the spirit board. So on the board was Kelly, Jules, Hettie, Mandy and Alison until Paul was ready as he was just setting up the white noise EVP experiment. Just before we started the KII meter went off, we asked if there was anyone there and to come forward and move the glass, the glass started to move slowly. Can you spell out you name; WILKS Do you like to be called Mr Wilks; Yes What is you age; 64 Are you happy to talk with us; Yes Do you mean us harm; No Can you please spell out you job; F A R M E R So you job was a farmer is that correct; Yes Was you a farmer of cattle; Yes Was this building you farmer; No How far was you farm from this pub; 7 What 7 miles away; Yes Did you come to this pub; Yes Was this your local; Yes Could you please spell out the drink that you liked to drink here: S T O U T So you liked stout; Yes Did you have your own tankard; Yes Are you happy; Yes Do you come and go in this place; Yes Have you crossed over to the light; Yes Did you have a family; Yes Could you please name your farm; Yes Linda then said is your farm Bagsure farm. There was no answer to that. (Bear in mind that at this point Kelly reminded all precent not to shout out names ect until they are spelt) Was it a good living; No Do you have any children; Yes Do you have one boy and one girl; No Do you have two boys; Yes Are they good boys; Yes Is the farm looking run down; Yes Did you have a wife; Yes Was she a good wife; No Linda then asked did he come from Chillinton; there was no answer. (Again a pet hate of Kelly’s) Kelly then asked if he could use his voice or knock on the table, or even push the table as he can push a glass. We then closed the spirit board and had a break. During this Paul gave Mandy her Birthday cake as the team was investigating on her birthday, which was very sweet of Paul. Once the break was over Kelly, Elvis and Paul decided to go back up stairs into the attic. While Hettie, Linda and Jules stayed in the new conservatory. Alison and Mandy was in the adjoining room and decided to have a go on the smaller spirit board. Now we did have a young girl come through, but with what was coming through from this young spirit I would not like to place on the write up just in case there is still part of her family in the surrounding area, Hope that you understand. I know that something was happening to Linda but Alison has asked Jules to write this part as she was not in the room at the time. By now the time was getting close to 2am, we lost an hour on this invo due to GMT clocks going forward, so we called it a night. So we packed our equipment away and left this location unsure if it was haunted or not. I would say with the photo’s that Kelly got there is something there that we cant explain…… Kelly's Conclusion: A very difficult location to actually put a stamp on, the start of the night was not made easy by the fact that some of the staff thought it funny to bang about and make wooooo noises. Very hilarious for like the first 10 minutes but after that very boring and yawnnnn just nonsense. However evidence collected in the form of photographs steers me to ask the question : is a second investigation needed????? Most public houses run on a 11pm finish so what would normally be a 5 hour invo really gave us about 2 in total due also to the GMT time going forward. My personal opinion on this Inn is one of wonder, such character lies within such a shame that it started the way it did.
