V.I.P INVESTIGATION AT TEAZE HAIR STUDIO, CARISBROOKE – 21 MAY 2011 THE HISTORY OF TEAZE HAIR STUDIO I (Kara), Kev and Chris met at Teaze Hair Studio, Carisbrooke at 7.30pm to do an Investigation into supposed paranormal activity. My daughter Colette also came. We met with Kerry Kelly who is the owner of the salon and she gave us a walk round and a talk about what she had experienced and what she knows about the building itself. Kev wandered around by himself and I spoke to Kerry about her experiences. Family and friends of Kerry were also there. The building itself has been around since the late 19th century, although very little is known about its history at that time we do know that there is a tunnel which leads from Carisbrooke Castle to the building which is now Teaze. The stories surrounding the tunnels are that prisoners were led from the castle into the tunnels and tortured; their bodies were left there, so the prisoners had no burial at all. There are also stories about Royalty hiding in the tunnels to save themselves from persecution, in fact, King George IIII supposedly died in the tunnels. We think that this was King George the IIII as he could be recognisable by his teeth, this particular King had the majority of his teeth pulled out! The building was also home to a family butchers called Cooke & Burke from early 1900’s. Eric and Bob were the sons of Cooke & Burke and ran the butchers. Downstairs of the building would have been the main shop, whereas what is now the upstairs beauty part of the shop would have been where Eric and Bob would have prepared their meat ready to sell in the shop below. There is an old shed at the back of the building, this used to be the butchers slaughter house and this is where activity has been reported as `evil’. This slaughter house may well be the very same that is mentioned in the village history. There is also what is thought to be an old air raid shelter at the back of the building, the entrance to the old tunnels may be linked to this shelter, but as it has been filled in there would be no way of knowing without digging it up. THE INVESTIGATION We started outside in the shed just to get a feel, which was also the slaughter house. Almost right away Kev had very uneasy conflicting feelings – he felt that there was a family – 2 adults & 2 children and he also had the feeling that there were witches and a coven – possibly 2 different timelines coming into one that Kev had to separate to make sense of. Kev also identified that there were tunnels running underneath Teaze and that he felt like he wanted to go `down’ We went inside the building and into the attic; again Kev felt uneasy in the attic and had the feeling that there were witches. We now know that there were witches in Carisbrooke and quite possibly in Teaze itself. In the attic Kev pointed to a wall and said that it was artificial and there should be a fireplace there, Colette crawled into a crawl space and saw that there had been a fireplace. Kev also saw severed heads (which we now know to be true from the village history of impalement), he also thought that the number 20 was significant (again this has proved accurate as I will mention later on). We decided to split up into 3 groups of 4. My group (myself, Claire, Pam & Rachel) started on the first floor in the massage room then later moved into the middle room, we did an EVP session in both rooms. In the massage room I kept getting the feeling that someone was behind me but nobody was. There is a door in the room which houses the boiler, it is possible that because there are wires in there that it is emitting quite a high EMF (electro magnetic fields) The theory is that if you have high EMF in a particular area and you spend alot of time there, this can make you feel, nauseous, fatigued, and have the feeling of being watched. There was nothing caught on EVP in this room. Kev went in the attic with his group ( Colette, Sam, Kerry & Katie) and they did the spirit board. Kev got the name Marta; he still kept getting witches and the number 888 (this is linked to the number 20. Colette found that the number 888 is very significant – 08/08/2006 – 2+0+0+6 = 8 - this was a very profound year for pagans and the number 888 means that magic will return)! Kev also got the feeling that people were walking quietly up to the attic, which means that the building was probably used for witchcraft. It is very probable that the 2 butchers knew about the witchcraft and allowed their building to be used. Chris group was downstairs in the salon they also did the spirit board but they got very little activity. We were hindered, as the activity died down quite a bit later on in the night, it was very frustrating for us all as there is activity there but we could not make much contact. My feeling on this is that somebody in the group was blocking the spirits (unintentionally). Sometimes living people can block the spirits from accumulating energy in order to manifest themselves. This is usually done sub-consciously and not intentionally. If someone wants a certain person to make contact then this also can stop other spirits from coming forward, which is what I think happened with my group when we started using the spirit board. My group moved to the attic to use the spirit board and we had a spirit called Harry come through. Harry said that he was not connected to the building! We had another spirit come through called Steve who claimed to be a friend of Kerry’s husband Dave and that he had a message for Kerry. It’s quite unusual for a spirit to come through who is not connected to the building or anybody trying to make contact – I think that either somebody in my group was thinking about Kerry husband so blocking relevant spirits from coming through, or a spirit was pretending to be a friend to mislead us. We had a break at around 10.30pm before moving outside to the shed to use the spirit board. As it was dark we thought that the activity in the shed would be quite high and that we would encounter the `evil’ spirits. Kev and Colette declined to come out as they both felt uneasy. Almost as soon as we started on the spirit board we had a message come through from Kerry’s Granddad telling us to go – everybody left and went back inside the building. Myself, Chris and Katie stayed – we used the spirit board to try make contact but it was very quiet and contact was not made with anything. My feeling on this are that the spirits in the shed are not evil, they are angry at the way they were tortured in the tunnels and left without proper burial. I told them that they need not be angry anymore and that their torturers would not be going where they should go. Kev came to the shed to make sure we were ok and he said that the atmosphere had changed and that he felt like dancing rather than running! CONCLUSION I have told Kerry that if she goes to the shed and anything tries to scare her, she should acknowledge that they are angry but this is her property and they have no rights to stop her from going where she wants. Just acknowledging spirits is sometimes enough for them to go away on their own or to `calm them down’. All in all, the building definitely has quite a bit of activity but on the night of the investigation it was quiet – which is sometimes the case. We can’t control spirits nor would we want to, if spirits don’t want to talk to us that is their prerogative. History of CARISBROOKE The history of Carisbrooke village is rife with witches, witchcraft and the persecution of witches and innocents, Colette has managed to find some of the history, so here is just a brief outline with the time-lines: 1156 – Carisbrooke Priory established which was home to the first witches’ coven. 1282 – French Prince visits the Island and was killed by witches 1528 – Accusations of witchcraft against 2 Carisbrooke residents 1607 – King James 1 of England hires witch hunters – these hunters were murdered 1627 – King Charles 1 hides at Carisbrooke Castle from witchcraft and was later beheaded 1731 – 5 witches from Carisbrooke were burnt – dark magic ended 1903 – 110 people were tortured on Carisbrooke High street 1904 – Witches started dark magic again at Carisbrooke 1905 – Family of 8 were poisoned by witches and taken to slaughter house in Carisbrooke – 7 died but 1 child survived but was killed in 1906 by witches 1910 – Witches started impaling heads of the dead as a warning to others in Carisbrooke 1920 – Paganism started to dissolve – witches fought against this 1921 – Slaughter house in Carisbrooke was discovered after 900 yrs 1922 – Tunnels were found – the people who found these disappeared 1942 – All known witches in Carisbrooke were killed This history was found after the Investigation took place and has bearing on what Kev felt and what came through to him during the investigation.
