When we arrived at the location, Alison and Kelly went into to the hotel to see where the Manageress would like the team to base themselves for the evening. Rebecca decided that she would place us in one of the room’s that is said to have some strange activity from time to time. This room was Room 14.

What was awesome was that when we arrived there was couple that was booked into the hotel,they had heard about our visit to the hotel. We are still unsure how they heard, but they had heard!!
Alison and Kelly went outside to get the rest of the team. The weather that night, was not cold and there was no wind, but there was street noise from the surrounding public bars.
The team made there way up to Room 14, once the team was settled we started the investigation in this room. Alison took her first reading of the night.

Alison asked some of the team how they were feeling in this room, Linda was feeling very uncomfortable & Mandy said that she had a feeling that they would make them selves known very quickly. We all held hands while Hettie started to use her sing bowl to bring the spirits forward. Once Hettie had finished some of the team placed their fingers on the glass on the spirit board. We had not been on the board many minutes when Mandy came out with the name Walter. They start to ask question’s.

Can you do that now please? The team then came off the board. Kelly lit a candle and placed it at the centre point of the board, also on the board was the KII meter, EMF meter and a nice little brass bowl with marbles in it, this is if there was any vibrations on the table, the marbles might pick it up.
Hettie was looking really sad, when asked she said that the spirit that was present in the room with us was very unhappy. Paul then had a very light touch on ear then the EMF meter went off. And the KII meter went on to three lights and stayed there for some time then went off. Hettie then said that he was saying that he was a good man. Mandy came out with the name Poppy. But when we looked at Hettie again she was crying, so Kelly gave cuddles and she called for a break.

In all the time that Alison has been with the team Alison had never see Hettie like this. The guys in the team that smoke went outside for a cigarette Which left Paul, Jules and Alison in the room. We all noticed that that the KII meter was still going off. Then Paul mentioned that he felt that this spirit had a beard.
The rest of the team came back to room 14, then Rebecca Put her head around the door to say that we could now go down to the cellar. The cellar is split into four areas, the stairs and small area, and round the corner to that was a very long corridor with the old foundations, which then leads to a newer part, this is separated by a very old door. Now if you walk back up this corridor to the left is a very small door which you have to bend down to get through, and this brings you to another part that is large but with A very low ceiling. In here Alison took her first reading, which was.

In the Cellar was Alison, Jules, Mandy, Hettie and Paul. Kelly and Elvis were setting up the laptop to start the live through the website in the top dining room. So while they were sorting out that, the rest of the team started to call out. Then we decided to start on the smaller spirit board, Now as Alison was present on the board the board session was not written down, but we seem to get through to a man that called himself Martin, that liked his drink of rum. He seemed to play with the glass, at some points like to say I am still here but not going to answer questions that you are asking. Several times the glass went to D D, and we could not get out of him what D D meant. While the spirit board was going the KII meter was going off.
 
Kelly & Elvis rejoined.

We asked Martin where did he come from and the team said some places. We got no response from him so we decided to stop the spirit board and continue with our investigation. As we were all moving to get out of the cellar, Jules then noticed that there was 5-inch nail on the board, which was not there before we walked away. Now we do have on footage the board before no nail, then we have footage of the nail present on the board, but not the bit in between. Typical !!!

 The team divided in to two groups, group one was Kelly, Jules, Linda and Mandy. Now they decided to stay in the cellar because of the nail, so they wanted to see if they could get the spirit to do it again. Group two was Chris, Paul, Hettie and Alison and they decided to investigate the other part of the cellar, but nothing was happening so Chris, Paul and Hettie went back to room 14 so that Paul could do some EVP work in a controlled area. Alison joined group one in the cellar, we started to call out and Kelly was hearing noises from behind her, she then caught on camcorder an orb coming straight towards her. She also heard a noise, which shocked her and her foot hit the door when she jumped. Which made the rest of group on edge for a moment. This footage was very funny so please watch the bloopers of Yelfs video. After sitting there for a while longer, Kelly called for a break.
When the investigation began again, we went to the last location in the building, which was the upper dinning room. We took the spirit board to the room, and Alison, Linda, Jules and Mandy were on the board. Also in the room were Kelly and Rebecca and two more members of staff. We all held hands around the board to see if we could bring the spirits close to us. We could tell that someone was coming close to Linda and it seemed to be Martin. Linda kept on saying that he needed to be at 26 urgently, but she was unsure what he was trying to say. Then he told Linda that the nail was meant for Jules. Then she said that 26 meant that he wanted to make it to 26 years of age. While Linda was talking the KII meter was going off. Then Linda could smell violets, and she came out with the name Dora Doulton and she wears a white dress and she is aged about 30, she is from 1970. She likes to stand at the bar and move the glasses, but some people have seen her sitting in a seatt in the upper dinning room, but from time to time she walked the landings.
Now she also said through Linda, that there is a young lad that likes to whistle that works here, could you please tell him to be quiet as he cant whistle very well. Also there is a lady that works there which is really bossy, the staff confirmed all of this. There was several other things that were said, and the staff confirmed these. The Yelfs hotel and bar is a very interesting place, the V.I.P team can’t wait to go back…

Kelly's conclusion

Interesting location that warrants a proper investigation perhaps on a quieter season or perhaps if the hotel was to close for works or something. Difficult to know what id spirit and what is normal as you have to know that ryde high street buzzes with nightlife everyday, its the central hub for all party goers and every other building is either a pub, hotel or food place. However I do believe we were joined by many a spirit this night and what we heard was unearthly spirits making themselves known, that is my personal belief. It was certqainly a jumpy night by all of us one that I would not hesitate to go back to at a moments notice. I would suggest all fans of haunted hotels to certainly check into this hotel and ask for one of the haunted rooms as I can promise you wont be dissapointed !! Can I also add that this place has poltergiest activity so watch for the devil that throws the nails and metal objects in the cellar we got thrown at a few times down there !!
